Steel wire, electrical wiring,
and Sausage casings (Pig Intestines).
49" x 29" x 15".

Constructed using the wire as a skeleton, then layering the pig intestines over the shell. The sausage casings are very thin and long, so they had to be cut down the middle, soaked in water, and stretched out before they could be placed over the wire. Because of the composition of the material, it sort of formed its own glue as it dried, so the damp strips stuck to themselves while conforming to the shape of the skeleton. Very fun to make, though rather slow, patience-trying process. The top/cell body separates from the stem/axon to make changing the bulb possible.

It still smells a bit like bacon, even after a dozen coats of clear acrylic.
Eventually it will break down and rot, like all things,
but it makes a lovely, soft light in a darkened room for now.
